Hysteria

Book design and transmediated experience

Female hysteria is generally thought of as a medical phenomenon that occurred in the late 19th century. However, a closer look into the subject reveals it's constant presence in human history, as well as a new perspective on both medical authority and gender roles in society today.

Accompanying the 224 page book are a series of posters advertising the release and an interactive spatial performance, using projection and Kinect proximity sensing to bring the phenomenon into a present-day experience.

Special thanks to Ryan Oenning for making this idea into a code-reality.
